Plant Health Care Technician/Tree-Service Groundworker (Hybrid Position)

Where Will You Work
  • You will perform services for a wide variety of clients in diverse locations from private gardens and backyards, to public spaces.
  • The majority of work time is spent in the field operating machinery or hand tools, performing PHC/arboricultural services, clean-up, and being courteous to clients.
  • A small portion of your time will be spent indoors to complete paperwork, and attend meetings and trainings.
What You Need To Bring To The Table
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to measure carefully and perform simple math calculations
  • Dedication to proper documentation
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude, safety mindset, reliability, personal integrity, and desire to grow personally and professionally
  • Valid driver’s license with a history of responsible driving
  • Ability to speak and write in English
  • Physical fitness and ability to work outside at all times in all weather conditions are required. Duty modifications may be made during specific seasons throughout the year.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Skills and Certifications that Would Qualify You for Higher-Level Positions
  • 2+ years experience in the tree care industry, especially as a plant health care tech
  • Tree and shrub identification skills
  • Certified Operator with the Colorado Department of Agriculture
  • ISA Certified Arborist
  • Experience with chainsaws, stump-grinders and chippers
  • Experience with climbing and use of bucket truck
  • Experience pruning and felling trees
  • Mechanically inclined
  • CDL

Each day will be exciting and different. You’ll spend your days being active outside, enjoying the beautiful Colorado weather.

On the plant health care side, you’ll help trees and shrubs thrive by supporting their health and well-being with targeted treatments. You will be responsible for safe delivery of PHC services including fertilizing trees and providing other forms of preventative care, monitoring pests and controlling them with prescribed treatments. You will also be responsible for driving and operating our plant health care truck.

As a groundworker, you will work with the rest of the team to keep work areas clear and safe, learn to operate a chipper, support climbers by helping them with their ropes and rigging and move up to working with chainsaws to buck logs and start to learn pruning techniques from the ground. If you have a passion and desire to learn, we will turn you into an expert in the industry with opportunities to learn proper pruning, removal and climbing techniques.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Working as a part of a team to create a safe work environment while maintaining a high level of production.
  • Performing plant health care treatments including spray applications, deep root injections, and trunk injections
  • Communicating with clients in the field to provide the highest level of customer service
  • Performing daily inspections of equipment and vehicles to ensure PHC trucks and equipment are prepared, filled, and refueled for each workday
  • Preparing and maintaining records of pesticide/herbicide use, as well as tracking forms, work orders, and equipment maintenance records
  • Preparing and posting public notices for pesticide applications or PHC treatments
  • Preparing pesticide sprays and other PHC solutions for treatments
  • Driving specialized PHC trucks to various work sites
  • Working with the trim crew as a ground worker with the opportunity to learn proper pruning, removal and climbing techniques
  • Carrying debris including sticks, limbs, and logs to staging areas for chipping
  • Operating a chipper and other equipment to dispose of debris
  • Using hand and power tools including, but not limited to: hand saws, pole saws, rakes, and blowers and chainsaws once you demonstrate proficiency in safe operation.
  • Performing basic maintenance of equipment and tools
  • Choosing and inspecting personal protective equipment
  • Completing all duties in compliance with ANSI Z133.1, OSHA safety standards, and ANSI A300 Pruning standards

We are family oriented, so we do not schedule work on weekends with rare exceptions. We also do not rely on over-time and do our best to stick to a 40 hour maximum work week, with occasional exceptions.
